A Message from the President

Successfully leading customers to real change through the strive for innovation that solves social issues

Climate change caused by global warming, the COVID-19 pandemic, and various geopolitical risks are shaking up the value standards and common practices that have shaped our society until now, pushing them to the brink of collapse. In addition, issues that had been obscured in the past unintentionally are beginning to come into plain view for society as a whole to grow sustainably. These phenomena are having a profound impact on companies around the world in their fight for survival. Japanese companies in particular, in addition to fighting for survival, are also struggling to incorporate ESG, SDGs, and other value standards that the world demands. Now is the time for Japanese companies to push for real change if they are to succeed on the global stage.

Hitachi Consulting, which has played a significant role in social innovation through the transformation of the Hitachi Group and many other customers, believes there are two key success factors for true transformation.

One is the main axis of change. We have learned from experience that the engine of change cannot be run at its full potential by simply applying advanced cases and successful business models from around the world. Each company or organization has its own distinct strengths, challenges, and culture, which build up to form its identity. Therefore, we believe that the key to swiftly promoting change and leading the journey toward success is to develop strategies based on thorough discussions with our customers, with this identity as the main axis.
Another key is the strive for innovation. Companies that face up to social issues that their predecessors have never been able to solve, and continue to innovate to bring hope and courage to the people, will become an indispensable presence in society. We believe that this will eventually become the foundation upon which the organization and its people will grow with strength and resiliency, and achieve transformation through the creation of new value.

Hitachi Consulting is a consulting firm comprised of a diverse range of human resources, including people with operating-company experience and people from other firms as well as people from the Hitachi Group. Since our founding, we have used this diversity in leading and accompanying our customers in their drive for change, and we will keep working with the customers to collaboratively create the next form of value, so that social innovation will continue to light the way into a sustainable future. Through change, new issues will arise, including compliance risks, that threaten the trust in the use of technology. But we will continue addressing these issues by making conscious use of our cutting-edge technology and our deep knowledge base, and will work in collaboration with industry, academia, and government to spread AI ethics and ELSI ideas throughout the organization, which will be essential to society and business going forward.
